And it goes a little something like this…

Long, long time ago I heard a 5 song EP called "Love, Billy" by an amazing Gainesville pop punk band called Discount . It was all Billy Bragg cover songs. And it was phenomenal. It was my introduction to both Discount and Billy Bragg.

One of the songs on the EP was Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards and had this one line that struck me as a perfect t-shirt in the making (I'm sure I wasn't the only one to think it). "The Revolution is Just a T-Shirt Away" would sit in my head for another few years later until I decided to finally pony up and make it into a shirt.

At the same time I was listening to heaps of The (International) Noise Conspiracy and stumbled on their video for " Smash It Up " which is filled with images of revolutionaries and revolutionary sloganeering. A famous Guy Debord (of the Situationist International) quote "Boredom is Always Counter-Revolutionary" really jumped out at me. So that became the second shirt.

There were a couple other early designs that have fallen by the wayside, but those two have remained interesting to me and popular with other people. The first batch of shirts was printed by Kelly Brenner just in time for me to take on tour and sell to kids in small towns across America. A couple years later Gary Hurst printed some more for me, but I didn't really do anything meaningful with those; just gave them to friends and sold a few at shows. Fast forward to 2008 in Seattle. I had started making a list of other shirts I wanted to design. Then one day, bored with my work, I decided to bang out the atheist design.

After that I got my momentum back and decided to do to it. Seriously this time. Oddly enough, my homeboy Bookis called me a couple nights later telling me he wanted to get into screen printing again. Bang Pow! The partnership was formed and here you have it.
